I have some gear that's about 25 yrs old. The vinyl is flaking. The foam is pulverizing. And the elastic isn't elastic. I haven't competed in over ten years, so I haven't kept up with the latest stuff. But I'm starting to coach more and it's time to get some new stuff. What brands, etc. do people recommend?

Is Vision good? It's new to me, but now I see it everywhere. Are these new vinyl shin and arm guards better than the old cloth ones? The one thing I know, the thing that really makes me want to get new stuff, is that the new chest guards seem to have a thin layer of hard plastic in them. Either that or some dense foam. Oh, and they allow you to kick the back now. Crazy.

Also, are there any good TKD or general martial arts forums

Thanks guys.

bb, I've just been able to glance at thos eforums, but they look great.

Gs, Those Muy Thai pads look great--I'd never seen leather shin guards-- but sadly we're only allowed to use red, white, or blue.

technology has really really advanced in the past few years. don't jump into buying anything that you were used to until you look around. I don't know anything about tkd gear, but the boxing and mt stuff I have seen has really advanced

Thanks Z. I got some stuff from a brand named Vision. Their US warehouse is in the bay area, and they gave me a big discount for being an instructor at a sanctioned TKD school. I haven't tried it out yet though.
