I'll give you Prince, but someone tell Clapton that doing a guitar solo in khaki shorts is NOT triumphant. Speaking of triumphant:

Yeah, EVH is certainly one of the greats, no two ways about that.

Everyone knows Prince is a great guitar player, but that particular ensemble and solo comes out of the blue, doesn't it?

I dunno, I think after the Superbowl, I realized that Prince could hang with/destroy just about anyone on the guitar.

Showing my age here...saw him in Detroit a couple times in the 80s before he went into pout mode over his record contract. I've always figured he was Jimmi Hendrix's bastard child.

Never really been that interested. Honestly, still am not. I recognize the skills, but Prince's music just doesn't do much for me. But he is probably one of the best living rock guitarists. Maybe it's weird, but I'd rather go SEE a GnR show than a Prince show, but I'd rather be backstage at a Prince show.

My feelings about Prince are similar to yours. Seeing him play was due to female wishes.

The thing about a GnR show is, you might show up, but will Axel? And if he shows up, will he perform?

Rolling the dice is all a part of the GnR experience.

I wouldn't go see them NOW. I'd have used my time machine to go see them at the Whiskey.

Terry Kath's solo during 25 or 6 to 4 is the best. Prince ain't got nothin' on that.

He's not often captured on video. I think he sat out some of his best years. If you ever get a chance to go see him, it's worth it.
