Been wearing some oliver goldsmiths for the past year and a half or so.

I need to get down to sfh since it's impossible to even browse anything online.

They may not appeal to you. But they are excellent shades. Personally, those Oliver Goldsmith over-sized hard plastic frames look FUGLY to me. But you wear what you want. And I'll talk about Prada any time I want. Ah, difference of opinion. Makes the world go 'round.

So I said to myself, "Have an open mind." Maybe I can learn something from someone who acts like a jerkoff right off the bat.

So I searched all of Jet's posts that contain the word "sunglasses", "eyewear", "Oliver", "Goldsmith", etc. Most were meaningless. I agreed with this one:

"Those so called higher end sunglasses are better but not by as much as the price suggests. Most of the major sunglasses are made by the two giants luxotica (sp?) and safilo or some ****. It's not worth your time or money to spend more than 150-200 unless you're getting some next level **** which is crafted meticulously by certain tradesmen. The prices can skyrocket and I've had some supposedly great quality sunglasses I paid 350 for that felt like 120 dollar ones so I returned them. They have a few measurements but most important are the bridge size which fits over your nose and the width from temple to temple or similarly your face.

You should visit various shops and just try on several pairs so you get the idea of what will look good on you and what won't. They're just something you have to try on though I have ordered a couple sight unseen and they ended up working out, but that's only because I had gone through all the motions of trying tons in stores."

and this one:

just say no to oliver peoples

I most certainly didn't learn anything.

These glasses don't slip down my nose. Ever. So light, you forget that you have them on. Excellent lens clarity. Great for golf or any outdoor activity. They have two other frame and lens color choices, and if you are far-sighted, you can get them built for reading.

For aviator-style sunglasses with real glass lenses, I have tried a lot of brands (Oliver Peoples, Mosley Tribes, Persol etc), but I prefer the Serengeti flex series. Their old school Driver lens is legendary, and they also have a Driver Polarized lens and another green based lens (555nm) for extremely bright conditions. Here's a pair of Serengeti Augusto Drivers that I own:

Finally, for the goggles look, I go Prada Sport polarized:

The Serengetis and the Prada Sport are wonderful glasses. But the Ho'okipa's are in a league of their own. The difference is no matter how hot it gets, how much you sweat, how much you move around, the Ho'okipas don't slip. I attribute it to a combination of the larger nose pads, the light weight, and the rubber ear grippers. The others are heavier, have traditional nose pads, and no ear grippers, so they are better suited to driving or relatively cool weather/stationary viewing like a poker game or a ball game.

I love noob recommendations. Please post pics with said glasses.

What's up with the pile on? He was just expressing his opinion. I kind of like the Serengeti's, and like the Prada (I couldn't pull it off). Sunglasses are a very personal thing, and don't like what everyone else does.

1. OP asked for recommendations.

2. If the thread is useless, it was useless long before I made my first post on page 15 of the thread.
