I need some advice on shoes for the summer (casual wardrobe). On non-work days, I generally wear polo, burberry, lacoste short sleeve shirts along with chino's (generally polo) or that type of pant--sometimes long or short.

I really like wearing sandals or flip-flops in the summer. After multiple surgeries, I can no longer do this. What lace-up shoe do you recommend?

TIA for the help.

What exactly makes a chukka a summer shoe? Its informality? Its historical associations with tramping around in the desert?

Let me put it this way: what would prevent a regular brown leather bal or a brown suede double monk from being a summer shoe?

I like loafers in the summer. I have something like this (not quite as expensive though - that is a picture of John Lobb Edward):

Also yellowish tan oxford brogues seem to work for me. I wear either pair with invisible socks for a sockless look.

Brown Suede Penny Loafer. Works with chinos of all colors, and even shorts if you wear them w/o socks.
