Sloaney is theoretically (as well as anecdotally) true on this count: the West exported their culture to American, Asia, and Africa via colonialization. Europe did not cease to be the producer of the world's culture until after WW2. Men's Clothing changes at such a rate that America has not been on top long enough to significantly change it, and it seems as though the will of the American people is to dismantle Men's Clothing rather than lead on it. America should lead on Streetwear with declining influence from Japan due to their economic strength in the 80's and increasing influence from China. As for beauty, I can't believe no one has brought up the oft-referenced maxim yet: suits are designed to correct physical deficiencies and give the illusion of an ideal male form.
