I'm after a classic pair of English brogues.
Criteria: chestnut/burgundy/oxblood/cherry, shorter with a rounded toe, wingtip.
1. EG Malvern (202 last). Tried both the E and F fittings and the last doesn't fit me properly.
2. C&J Finsbury (341 last). Same problem. Leather bulges out slightly at the sides.
3. Foster Thornham/C&J Clifford (337 last). Good fit, but the last is too pointy.
That leaves Lobb - they sell a nice chestnut brogue. However, it's pricey and I don't know how it compares to EG.
Up close (looked at it in the JS shop) it didn't seem to be as nice as the EG Malvern and it has odd contrast stitching. The heel counter wasn't done too well - prefer the EG pattern. The EG model just looked and felt better. Personal preference, I guess.
Any other ideas? G&G - gamble as I can't try before I buy. Ditto AS Handgrade. They're likely to be pointy.
The only option seems to be MTO.
