straight bar lacing on 5-eyelet shoes?

Is there any way to do straight "bar" lacing on shoes with an odd number of eyelets? I have pair of shoes with 5 eyelets, and I like the formal look of that particular lacing style.

Just use the standard military straight bar.
Take one end from the bottom left or right hole up to the opposite top hole. Then thread the other end over the top all the way up. It doesn't get any simpler. Pehaps someone could find a diagram of this for you. I've used it on all my boots and shoes for the last 30 odd years.

That method, without seeing the laces cross underneath, is probably more for trainers.
I wouldn't attempt it for dress shoes.

This is the classic English way which is easily loosened.

There is also a Continental-European way (can't find a drawing) where one end
comes underneath from bottom left to top right (or vice versa),
while the other end goes through all the eyelets one, at a time.

In either case, it makes no difference how many pairs of eyelets you have.

Ok, I've found it, apparently it's called shoe shop. But it also happens to be UK military and police style. Easy, effective, and a minimal amount of lace going back and forth on the tongue and under the eyelets as in some styles.

If you don't want to see anything underneath then you'll have to improvise and tuck the one lace thats giving you trouble under the tounge.
