Before you guys read this, i know i have very poor writing. I know i should have thought of a better way of asking them.
Alright here's the situation. The doorbell rang at 12pm(i was in bed knowing the ups guy would put the package in the meter room). I went downstairs at 1pm looking for the package. I saw the ups notice saying it was left in the meter closet. I looked but couldnt find it. I know i hesitated to look because i had my ...pj's on and i heard people around my car. I looked and it was the 2 neighbor kids. I went back upstairs and checked again, but this time i noticed little foot steps. as shown http://tinyurl.com/y9xlb9p (obviously kids)o wait look its leading to the blue door http://tinyurl.com/ylc8fro . So i went back inside but had to come back out again. THe 3rd time i came out i saw the little girl on my DOORSTEP! The brother told her to leave. After they saw me they went inside the house. So i went over there and knocked on the door but it was the kid(probably 5?) asked him about it, then he said he didnt have it and told me how he saw someone with a mask open the "blue door" near the end he told me he saw some guy with a kid go there and got something from the closet.
By then i had to goto work so i went to my car and took a pic of it because it was dirty from all the wind and rain http://tinyurl.com/ylh7ky9 . But wait! Look! there's a bag under my car, o what can it be? http://tinyurl.com/yleohvx O its the bag gap puts their clothes in.
After work i decided to ask the parents and showed them what my marsupialed detective work. I introduced myself and informed them that i had a package taken, i'm not blaming their kids becuase i didnt see them do it. Evidence was basically, i saw the kids near my car, foot steps on my doorstep, i saw the little girl on my doorstep, and gap bag near my car. If it was someone who isnt 5 yrs old, i'm sure they wouldnt try opening the package right in front of my house. Anyways the parents yelled at me for accusing their kid, then the father sorta threatend me saying "i dont want to do something we dont want" then told me to leave.
Thinking back I know i should have presented the situation differently and let the parents speak their minds first. But whats done is done. Its not even about the item anymore because gap was kind enough to send a replacement. Its the damn principal. Its the fact that I lost that faith in my neighborhood. I order a lot of stuff online so this is gonna bug the **** outta me.
What do you think?
cliff notes: evidence http://tinyurl.com/y9xlb9p http://tinyurl.com/ylc8fro http://tinyurl.com/ylh7ky9 http://tinyurl.com/yleohvx 1pm in a rainly afternoon where only the neighborhood kids are outside(they're always outside around this time). Was i wrong to blame them?
