So how expensive can you really get a suit to be?

I would have been impressed if you would have gotten 50,000.00 for the Vicuna like a Kiton K-50. :D
Just curious, how much would the trousers cost apart from the jacket? 37,495.00 for the jacket and 12,500.00 for the trouser?

I like ending in "95" for some reason, started with my dad

$14,995.00 for the trousers only and $39,995.00 for the jacket only :fistbump:

Here's Husny Mubarak in a suit with his name embroidered into the pinstripes.  No clue how much it cost, but I am willing to bet it wasn't cheap.

That is the Holland & Sherry Signature cloth

As far as the cost of suits one would expect to see on a CEO of some major corporation (which, arguably, are made with the idea of selling them), the price ranges are all over the place - probably from 6K - 20K. .

I'm guessing the low end of this number is high.

i bet there are quite a few major CEOs wearing JAB Signature Gold or Platinum, Polo RL, mainline Hickey, etc which can easily be found below $2k even with tailoring.

On the subject of outrageous cost:

1. Generally, these "super-duper" suits are merely publicity stunts and talkings points. (E.g., "we can make the finest suit from the rarest of rare of cloths that only emperors used to wear.") Many clothiers and manufacturers make these "ultimate suits" solely for the press coverage. The reporter from Channel 2 news eagerly takes-in the "story" which is nothing more than an advertisement.

2. On a related note, there is an ice cream parlor in New York called Serrendipity. It had an "ultimate" ice dish with the rarest of ingredients including gold shavings instead of sprinkles. It got a good amount of press coverage on not only television but the papers. I would be shocked if it sold even one.

Also famous for "frozen hot chocolate" It was pretty good. Think the place has closed, not sure.

We had a "better" restaurant (entrees $20-30) in the 1908s that offered peanut butter and jelly sandwiches on Wonder bread for $900. Every once in a while a news source would pick it up as a "high cost of living" piece.

My diet on Sunday consisted entirely of a bit of crème fraîche, a large quantity of really excellent caviar, champagne (also excellent), armagnac (!), plus two potato latkes.

I recommend this highly.

Think of how much that would be in modern dollars.
