So how expensive can you really get a suit to be?

After a discussion with a friend, who swears his boss wears $25k suits, I was wondering: Just how expensive can you get a bespoke suit to be? The only "restriction" is that my curiosity does not extend to impractical, exotic materials that would not be suitable for everyday business wear. The most expensive OTR suits I know of are probably Kiton for around $8k each so I find it hard to believe one could spend more than $10k, $12k max on one wool and/or cashmere suit but does someone have an estimate? This would obviously be a bespoke job.

I've heard of $25,000 suits. I'm sure there are those that cost even more than that.

Desmond Merrion used to advertise a totally hand stitched bespoke suit for £30,000.

Not sure he ever made one or what happened to his business after he was sent to prison for various fire arms offences.

Kiton offers the K-50 suit for 50,000.00

Know a few tailors who get 35,000.00 and over for suits made from Vicuna and surprisingly they sell quite a few every year.

95% of my clients don't know forums like this exist so we can rule out this reasoning. Of the 5%, .05% actually post on forums. The 4.5% use the internet and forums for research/information gathering purposes.

Custom weaving a length of wool with a weaver and hand-stiching everything are two ways to radically increase the price of a suit just with labor without resorting to lavish materials or designer name costs. Get an intricately hand sewn tie and handmade shoes and you could probably double whatever the suit's cost is. I would respect whoever would do this fyi and it wouldn't be a gaudy endeavor... can't say the same for someone who encrusts a mtm armani with diamonds or whatever.

I think that suit now sells for 47K. Still waiting for one to show up on B&S. :smarmy:

unless your boss is the top 1% of the population in terms of his looks & body it won't matter if he wears a 1 million dollar suit he will never look as good as a runway model wearing a cheap h&m suit. now you can go laugh in his boss's face and spill some juice on his 25 thousand dolla suit.
