From Russia with Love is the best Connery film, IMO, so if you haven't seen that one, do it. The Spy Who Loved Me is the best Moore film, again, IMO.

both those are excellent. I also really like Moonraker

I actually did that just to realize that I really hate Moore as Bond. Connery is great as Bond, but nearly all movies he made would be ridiculed mercilessly if Craig starred in them.

Bond was also wearing a pair of light blue Orlebar Browns in the scene where he arrived in Macau (IIRC) and took a swim in the hotel pool. the scene was pointless and i kind of assumed that it was there just to show him wearing the trunks, but then you can hardly see them anyway. so even more pointless if the product placement didn't even work.

The swim in the hotel pool was for the lady viewers.

You guys are getting too caught up on product placement. I didn't think it was bad in the film at all. Even the beer in question that was drank felt natural enough in the context of the scene.

Saw it again for second time last night with parents non-IMAX.

Think it could have been much much tighter and shaved probably 15 minutes off run time. Didn't seem as long this time though.

Also, I thought there was enough exposition for Silva's actions, I mean its 007 there comes a point where you just need to know that the psychopath is angry and you're good to go.

Really wish
he would have put a hat on the rack when walking into Moneypenny's office or at least had a more direct reference to her wanting a date with him rather than "I expect we'll have many close shaves

Probably my favorite opening credit ever. Really was beautiful (as was the rest of the film). They even managed to foreshadow how Bond would be weak and confused through their illustration. It was stunning how for a few seconds the opening credits looked exactly like it could have been the film.

The way they re-booted the series by literally destroying icons of the past and re-using others... pretty sweet .

What I really wanted was a shot of the 50 years of 007 screen at the end. Tried to get it with my phone, couldn't. May see it again just to get a photo.

Well, that was a rockin' good time for the Anglophile. Creepy and treacherous Spaniard. Loyal but disposable Scot. Drinking at times when it would seem that one's life depends on intact motor skills. Unresolved mummy issues channeled into grim sense of duty. Check, check, check, check.

Plus unbelievably good looking actress I'd never even heard of before.

Roger Moore did Bond well when pushed to do so. Live And Let Die, The Man With The Golden Gun, and For Your Eyes Only are all good films and better than any of the Brosnan films. The rest of Moore's Bond films are varying degrees of rubbish.

Really? In my eyes, GoldenEye is better than all the movies you mentioned.
