Talking about import tax...I live in Canada most of the time, but I ships expensive goods that I order online to Hong Kong first to avoid tax then ship it back to Canada again.

HKSAR is a free port and does not levy any Customs tariff on imports and exports. Excise duties are levied only on four types of dutiable commodities, namely:

• Liquor
• Tobacco
• Hydrocarbon Oil
• Methyl Alcohol

My understanding is that in the old days footwear industry was considered to be of national importance and many countries had import tariffs/duties on footwear to protect their domestic manufacturers. Why do we still have that tax today?
I figure our cousins to the North must be even more pissed off. Canada had a footwear industry but to my knowledge there are no Canadian footwear maker that produce man dress shoes.

^^^ Don't even get me started on the punitive (18%!!!) duties to protect a largely non-existent Canadian footwear industry.

As a minor aside, I found a vintage pair of Dack's shoes, made in Canada at a local Value Village thrift store. They were a black single monkstrap with apron stitching and a chisel toe.

I would have bought them but alas, they were 1-2 sizes too big for my feet.

I'm a big fan of the Victoria soles now. Just as durable as Dainite, feel better to walk on. I can always feel the nubs of Dainite and that bugs me a bit.

Sounds great! Are there any updates on the Bonafé peccary shafted button boots?

Most of the pairs in this order has been lasted and will most likely be delivered to us within a couple of weeks or a month. Please remember that the lead times for Button boots are often slightly longer because of the many high critical phases in production (buttons, button holes etc.). We will let all participants know when this order has arrived.
