Stag example: It's like a shaggy soft suede. It is excellent stuff. I believe it may be unavailable or sporadically so, like Heather Gorse or Willow calf. Just another opportunity for something different and off the beaten path. Of course there's always elephant or hippo too. Cheers. Looks like what EG now calls deer. Please email us for swatches. [email protected]

Since many members have rightfully complimented these stunning shoes in the last few days, I will mention that there is a GMTO underway for a very similar style. We are looking for two more people to go in on a Gaziano and Girling Gable MH71 Black Deco calf standard width without trees. The Gable is very similar but lacks stitching along the topline and has heel stitching.

Here is a link to the standard Gable in black (second one down).

Please PM if you are interested.

Anyone else think a Thorpe in Chestnut Pin Grain would look sweet? Keep looking for a shoe style that that leather would look great on.

Another Bonafé MTO idea:

Casual boot on the 363 MOD or 804 lasts
Melezze calf (see monkey boot)
Black calf tongue
8-10 brass eyelets
360 Black Norvegese stitching

(Not sure on styling yet)

Just some feedback regarding shipping to the U.S. East Coast since there have been some questions on that a few times. Ordered a pair of Carmina derbies on Black Friday. Got them last night via USPS - essentially six business days. Not only that, but the tracking was updated frequently. This was my first SkoAb purchase and won't be the last. As Rydenfan indicates, it could not be smoother and more pain-free.

As for the shoes, I got these: http://www.skoaktiebolaget.se/collections/carmina/products/carmina-brown-cap-toe-derby

They are fantastic. A little darker brown than I was envisioning (I thought they would be more of a mid-brown) but not as dark as some other chocolate brown calf brogues I have from Carmina. All in all, a workhorse type shoes with no little style.

Thanks Patrick!

Thank you, great feedback. Please note that you guys in the US can now chose FedEx Priority (delivery within 2-3 business days) for the same price as USPS, but USPS will be less likely to be hit by customs duties.

Those look amazing, could you please post some photos when you are wearing them?
Dieg0...Here are a couple after wearing and breaking in. The black calf is so soft the minimal creasing really doesn't show at a distance. I also included a fully bent shot. I get no creasing into the V (although MH71 is a perfect fit for me).

I've been hit with customs by FedEx almost every time I've used them from Europe, so it's nice to have the option - three days is hardly any difference to minimize the chances of duties. But giving us the option is just great customer service.

No comment about the Maple Stag, or stag generally, gentlemen? Does anyone have ideas about new or old interesting leathers from the archives for a few new makeups? Inquiring minds are interested. Cheers.

Smoothie1,,
Here is the swatch of G&G stag leather. It looks good to me but I have not seen shoe made out of it.

I think chestnut pin grain would look great on boot version of Woburn shoe. Although Thorpe might look good too.

Agreed, the more options the better. Personally waiting a few more days and I may get a bit antsy, but I'd rather wait and not have to worry about paying any additional duties or fees.
