Dumb question how water proof is side zip

This zip is always a week point for any type of garment/boot. Let’s just say that they can’t replace a Wellington.

Would anyone be interested in a GMTO boot like this? This is a prototype I made for @laufer on the T last. Basically it's a boot version of Gessi. Can also be ordered with fur lining.

I'm going to get a pair for myself and a friend so we only need 4 more. I'm down for either fur lined or plain.

Well, I think you may have finally convinced me to get my first pair of L&T. Would the uppers be the same (is that Utah?) I'd be totally down for fur lined.

So would anybody be interested in Group MTO for Gessi in different leather or color? For example Cognac Country Calf or maybe Utah calf or some other leather if @Leaves can acquire it. That Bonafe latigo printed leather looks really good.

There is a alpine leather in black http://www.aacrack.co.uk/leather-type/embossed/small-pattern/alpine-black-12-14.html

Scotchgrain http://www.aacrack.co.uk/leather-type/embossed/small-pattern/angus-firml-acorn-047-12-14.html

AA Crack has beautiful pin grain leather in several colors, http://www.aacrack.co.uk/catalogsearch/result/?q=grain
Or something from https://tarnsjogarveri.com/wip/en/leather

Patrik, did you see this post above.

I might be interested in a LT Gessi GMTO in pin grain, but I’d also like to see some regular leather loafers and some EB GMTOs as well.

What about vegetable tanned grain leather from https://tarnsjogarveri.com/wip/en/leather

I might be interested in fur line version too, but I will cannot make a decision until the first week of September. Is there a way to get that version without a zipper? Full Wellington.

I would be interested in any of those other grained leathers. Pin grain seems like it could be very cool (that fern pin grain looks very nice). I'm also open to different colors/leathers as well.

Price will be 4500 SEK including VAT (3600 SEK ex VAT ~ $405). This is the kon shearling lined version. Shearling lining will be 300 SEK extra.

I may just be naive, but would you please explain what the zipper adds to the boot or how it is useful? I’m used to wearing similar style roper/cowboy boots with no zipper and am genuinely curious on what I may be missing out on.

That leather is gorgeous. I love the color and finishing.

Interesting design. It almost looks like an austerity western boot. Does the zipper actually provide any functionality, considering it doesn’t go all the way up?

It does, it makes it easier to put boot on. However this boot is a short and, it should be easy to put on without zip. I thought a boot without zipper is easier to make.

Would be very eager to join in for that Zipper boot

The Champlain GMTO / Crowdfunder is live. We already have 3 confirmed so I'm very certain this one will go into production.

A few comments in regards of the zipper. We tried it without and you can put the boots on without using the zipper, but it's a lot easier with it. It's not going to be a very visible part of the design as it's hidden on the inside, and it adds ease of use. The fur line will be in the vamp and sole only, not the full shaft. That will just be too warm IMO, even for Sweden.

Very very cool! Some stupid questions, what kind of trousers would you wear with this? Maybe jeans or tweeds? Do you tuck them in or out?

In the South (where I’m from), boots like that are normally worn with basically anything but suits. I wouldn’t tuck the pant leg inside the boot but that’s personal preference. Great for the colder months and relatively weather resistant.
