I'm interested in how they fit for you. I love the aesthetics of my chestnut Utahs but I was really concerned after the first two wears because I just didn't feel they fit my feet well. After the third wear, I am feeling more comfortable that they are going to work. Not sure if they actually needed break-in or I'm just getting more used to the different fit.

It's interesting because I'm finding that English boots don't seem to have much of a heel counter from what I'm used to. I'm using these Galways and a few C&J boots for this reference. And I'm comparing the English boots to say, Vibergs, Aldens or even Carminas. I definitely get more heel slip in my English boots. But some heel slip is okay for me in boots.

I've found that EG heel counters have more curve than GG. Anyone else experience this? Maybe it's just the particular lasts?

Regular post (USPS for US clients) is simply more expensive for us to use. We have a good contract with FedEx and that's why it's cheaper to use. Customs fee to the US is 8.5% so its actually not that bad.

It's only a matter of time until we will have to discontinue the USPS option, both EG and Carmina is putting some pressure on us to stop this because USPS is so lousy in regards of collecting customs. For StC we have already stopped because they demanded this.

I'm simply curious as to why a shoe maker or any other manufacturer would care if USPS et al. collects customs on shoes that another merchant is shipping. Is it simply ethics, or does the EU actually track this in some way that bites the original manufactures in the end?

Just a guess, but It probably has more to do with complaints of equity from their retailers in the states.

That's sounds logical but yea it's very weird that they would care that much. My guess would be pressure from high end stores like leffot & other store. Who would raise hell & this is purely a guess.

That makes sense. Even though Leffot is in the epicenter of fast cash, I can see why they would be irked by having to pass on costs that other might not.

Store like that are causing problem to begin with & that is why we are going to have so much changes.

Lol. Irked by passing on costs - when they purchase in euro and charge the same prices to the customer at the old 1.3 $/€ rate when they pay the new 1.1$/€ rate

It seems that at least some shoemakers establish a higher MSRP in the U.S. versus other countries, so this is not entirely the retailer just trying to make more money.

The import taxes and duties incoming to the U.S. are very high, FedEx so far is the more cost effective way to import and depending on wether you are importing containers to New York or California the price difference can be considerably higher. No way around import fees based on declared value. Enzo Bonafe' has never set a MSRP and leaves that up to its retailers, other makers are concerned because of the retailers in the US loosing sales abroad.
