Nevermind, I think I just had a moment of clarity and came to my senses. 😅

Are wingtips too stuck in circa-2009 #menswear? I like the broader last and 270 storm welt, as well as the balmoral style vamp, although I'm aware of the cautions against oxfords worn casually.

Never out of style. Anyway, if traditional formality is a concern for you, you could always opt for the same style but in a derby version.

However, in that material, together with the brogueing and the contrast welt stitching, formality shouldn't be an issue. Even with CM people.

I might be wrong since the photos aren't that clear, but that doesn't look like a storm welt. Looks like a standard goodyear welt to me.

The description says "waterlock", but you're right - there are no sidewalls to the welt.

Any around here have experience with Auralee’s High Density Finx Linen Easy Shorts? While I have zero doubt the fabric is amazing, the measurements really give me pause.

Love the length of them at around 6 inches, but the rise is around 13 inches and while designed to be cinched, the waist measurement is around 38 inches in a JP3.

I have the polo of this fabric and your intuition is right, the fabric is insane (I've become in love with their stuff overall, despite the unfortunately ridiculous prices).

I don't have experience with the shorts but the product images suggest they are meant to bunch a ton, which would explain the 38 inch waist on the size 3 (note: my understanding/experience they size differently, where their size 3 is really a small/JP 2, and a 4 is a medium etc). I'd add that this fabric has virtually no give to it and is very structured, so you really don't want anything too snug.

Think I am gonna have to pull the trigger on them as the material looks amazing. Really appreciate your reply!

I bought one five years ago, worn it once, and returned it. The pockets were not taped so legs all wet. Would not recommend

I got one in 2013 and it doesn't have that problem.
