Trying to decide between these two grain longwings. Anyone have opinions? I would wear them with flannels to work in somewhat CM way but also a bit more casually as well.

Alden:

Tricker's:

I think it depends on the budget. Tricker's can be purchased for considerably less than the Alden's on resale websites and on the Tricker's outlet website.

Interested to get opinions on these two Stone Island down coats.#1 #2

#1 is Opaque Nylon Twill Down
#2 is David-TC Down coat

thanks!

Both are not bad. I have something similar to the green one.

Is that liner built in? Removable?

It’s built in to both coats. Don’t mind that it’s not removable though as this is purely for cold and dry NY days.

Yeah...if not removable, it's no big deal.

The Trickers are significantly chunkier and heavier than the Alden’s. You wouldn’t be surprised that I prefer the Trickers (and that’s because we basically “borrowed” from the old Thom Browne longwings that used to be made by Trickers and have always been my platonic ideal for black longwings) but I do think that the answer to your question lies in answering whether you are looking for a heavy double-soled gunboat of a shoe (a la Thom Browne), or something more “normal”.

Thanks for your input! I would not actually have guessed the Tricker's are heavier. I thought Alden LWBs were considered usually fairly heavy

I’m going by memory as I don’t have a pair of Alden longwings on hand to compare side by side - so maybe it’s all in my head. But I think you’ll notice the sole assembly on the Trickers is quite chunkier (see thickness at the shoe waist) and maybe the heaviest I’ve encountered.
