Shirt Query from GQ Mag # February 07

Evening all

I have a dress shirt enquiry. Whilst my off-the-rack shirts fit me well around the neck and cuffs, too often they are baggy around the sides & waist with excess material. I am currently trying slim-fit and semi-fitted shirts but they are not much better.

Today I spotted an article in GQ Mag # February 07 on off-the-rack fitted dress shirts which look much straighter and slimmer around the torso.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a brand/supplier in Australia that does these tighter "fitted" shirts off-the-rack? A trawl of the internet suggests Euro shirts tend to be a tighter fit. (Or is made-to-measure the only option?)

it depends on how slim you want it. How disparate is your "drop" from the Chest measurement to your waist measurement? If it's something like 9 or 10 inches, you probably need to go MTM. If you have like a 7 or 8 inch drop, a shirt cut to be slim fit should work decently; european brands, generally tend to be pretty good. I don't know what's available (for cheap) in Australia, but there should be at least a few decent options that you can find in department stores and men's shops, especially during sale times. I'm sure some of our Australian members have good suggestions on brands.
