Made to measure suit in SF for $1000

In 2014 I took advantage of a trip to Hong Kong to buy two suits and three shirts for a very reasonable price. Unfortunately those suits no longer fit me and it's a lot harder for me to travel now.
I know a lot of tailors travel to San Francisco for fittings. I browsed some of the tailors recommended elsewhere on Styleforum who do fittings in SF, and saw prices around 3000-4000 euros. That is out of my price range, unfortunately.
I am wondering if it is possible to get a made to measure suit from a traveling tailor for $1000 or so, from someone who will take measurements in San Francisco? Or should I be looking to buy off the rack.
I am also wondering how far your body shape can change before a made to measure suit will start fitting poorly? I gained about ten pounds since February; it's possible I will lose it again, or gain even more. I would like to look good but if my suit will only fit well for a little while maybe it is not worth it.
Thanks very much,
Kevin

I would be looking at off the rack and getting alterations done. I paid $1800 for a custom suit from a local SF tailor and was so disappointed, I never wear it. I think 3-4k is probably the range where you find something excellent.

Does collado visit SF? If so I’d try them out. If not, steed MTM is probably around there but if not, worth splurging out. If not, just try the usual suspects and see if it’s worth it to you to tailor those products. For me, I think S&M provides incredible value and can have a jacket fit me almost perfectly through Made to order (around $600 avg) or around the same for their RTW pieces post tailoring

2 piece suit Steed MTM is 1600 pounds or about $2000 USD. 3 piece suit is 2000 pounds.

Take a look at Enzo Custom. They have a showroom in Palo Alto.
