I had the shark fin as a garnish on a dish (I can't remember what now) on a business trip to Bejing in the early '90's. I must say that compared with the sea cucumber and fried scorpions I also had on that trip, the shark fin wasn't that bad.

so they throw the body into the water after cutting of the fin? appreciating shark skin to a degree iw oudl say they thay are wasting a decent skin.

Been watching Shark Week and I just saw Ocean of Fear, which is about the USS Indianapolis and how the survivors one by one got eaten by sharks. 900 overboard and only a few survived. I'm scared enough of large bodies of water as it is.
