Season's winter jacket must have...

What's this year's must have winter jacket? It gets pretty cold here in Canada and I'm looking for a more casual winter jacket. I have one that I wear to work over a suit, but need one for going out that's also not a ski/snowboard jacket. So something inbetween those two extremes

Any suggestions please?

Seems a bit late for looking for "this season's must have". Even in Canada, the winter is starting the up-swing toward warmer temperatures (disregard the -48C today in Regina

). I whould start looking for a classic, stylish coat as stores clearout for spring stock. Trendy items rarely look trendy for long, classic is always classic.

What's considered a classic coat between a ski jacket and a formal coat? I know there are tons of options, just looking for some suggestions I guess.

Can you define "formal coat"? If you're wearing it over a suit, it needs to be at least car coat length, although I personally prefer longer.

I wear this one for casual with jeans or pants. Anything, but dressy I suppose.
