I know that there are a fair number of Mac people here, so I thought I'd ask a computer-geek question. Have y'all tried out Safari yet? I got around to getting it last night, and it's amazing, it makes my dsl line feel like a university network when browsing. It seems to work just fine on all the sites important to me, even MS ones like Slate.

If it would just get that tabbed browsing thing from Chimera going, I think it would just about be perfect.

Peace,

JG

Hey, I'll freely admit that I bought my PowerBook for the pretty titanium case, as well as the general thought otherwise put into aesthetic and layout issues, none of which I found in my old plastic Dell. For example, adding memory requires simply lifting up my keyboard, which unlike on my old laptop is replaceable. It's further worth noting that I replaced my old laptop essentially because I wore out the keyboard... AND that I have not once had to reboot this thing since I got it. Besides, it was easy for me to switch as I don't play computer games, and that widescreen LCD so nicely frames my fiance's face...

Peace, JG PS: Isn't this exactly the wrong place to criticise people for making decisions based on design?

Yes. Â Happily using Safari on my three year old iMac, and debating which PowerBook to upgrade to. Ever notice when you travel how many people are carrying those black Targus computer bags? Â You know they have a company-issued Windows laptop in there that they curse at every day. A Mac is not for everyone, just the stylish. Â And those who don't follow the crowd Â
