Roomba owners?

I'm too busy to keep my apartment clean, and I have both budget and trust issues which make a cleaning service impractical. Anyone on this board own(ed) a Roomba? Curious as to your experiences (i.e. does it actually work?). Their newest high end models sound fairly sophisticated.

Do you still vacuum normally or do you use it all the time? I haven't seen these things before and they look pretty cool. Would be nice to save myself the time... There's one for washing floors too.

IRobot is basically a bunch of MIT nerds getting paid to answer really relevant problems. They have huge contracts with the government and make all of the EOD robots we use in Iraq/Afghanistan. Their stuff isn't as cute as the 'bots that are coming out of the land of Hello Kitty, but they sure as **** get the job done.

I'll take your word for it. Honda is leading the way in terms of humanoid robots though. Last year they got it running at a pretty good pace and it's pretty good at navigating stairs and stuff. I think we're probably getting near to the point where they might actually start selling some. Near being a relative term since they've been working on that thing since the early 90s I think... It will probably cost as much as a car, but hey, it will be cool.

I cant understand why so much focus is being put on humanoid robots. As far as functionality is a waste for a robot to be humanoid, sans sex robots.

I've heard it's OK for "light cleaning" (friends visiting) but you'll still need a real vacuum for real cleaning (parents visiting).
