Oh please. Skinny ties can look great and have been worn by some of the most stylish men of all time. Im not talking comically skinny ties.
You're first sentence is accurate, however.

I agree completely, but right now they look like you're doing all your shopping at Express or some other store that's two years behind. I should have been more clear.

It sounded intriguing, up until it got to the "tuck the thick end into your shirt" part. Might as well tie it on my head like a bandana, and write "shmott guy" on my cheeks with a lipstick. (As for the base idea of wearing a tie in a silly way that is yet somehow stylish, I saw a photo on GQ with a silk knit worn seemingly with the thin end on the front, or at least with an extremely lopsided knot - but of course the thick end wasn't tucked anywhere.)

As for skinny ties being stupid, according to some of the clever people out there, ties should be exactly 3.25 inches wide. Some other clever people say it should mirror the width of your lapels. I tend to believe the latter clever people, while accepting that there might be some religious significance of the 3.25 inches, I fail to subscribe to that particular cult.

3.25 inches is a good lapel width. I'm a skinny bastard, so I usually go with 3 inches. I only really like wide peak lapels.

I doubt it can be worn the thin side out I feel D Josef, if you can not see the the broad part.
