Recommendations for a full strap dress loafer

I would like to buy a full strap loafer. And when it comes to a loafer for some reason I associate them with burgundy/cordovan color, I guess because of the fact that oxfords are more formal and dressier and thus require black and dark shades of brown. So I consider a full strap dress loafer as a good opportunity to have in burgundy/cordovan color, instead of black and brown.

And when it comes to a burgundy/cordovan color, it is no secret that burgundy is best with shell cordovan. Well, and "Alden" is the first shoe manufacturer you would think of for a shell cordovan shoe.

I have never owned an Alden and a shell cordovan shoe for that matter. Though I know that they are generally more expensive.

However, considering theshoemart sells Alden seconds as per some posts/threads I read in SF, I have found the 511 dollar price tag exorbitant for the below shoe:

http://www.theshoemart.com/cgi-bin/c...&start=1&rpro=

What do you think? Is this a fair/good price?

How much would this particular shoe be in an Alden store if it were sold with an Alden label?

I will really appreciate if you can share your opinions with me regarding the above questions and recommend me some other high quality full strap dress loafer in burgundy color.

Thanks.

i was set on buying a full strap penny loafer too, but that shoe's toe is too pointed and the strap is too thin for my taste. the only choice is the polo darlton/marlow penny loafer in my book.

Thanks. But AFAIK they don't come in burgundy. The thickness of the strap is an important point to consider I guess.
