Might just be perspective, but the top buttons' positioning seems terrible. Aside from that, if he lost the hat, collar pin and changed the trousers, he'd look pretty bloody good.

lmao..

So if he lost the jacket, hat, collar pin and changed his trousers, what are you basing he would look good on? His shirt?

He gets a F.

That tie is horrid.

+1 Nitpicking The Sartorialist pics seems like a fruitless exercise. It's much more interesting to me to think about what's working and why, and maybe use that as a springboard for experimenting. These pics are extreme outliers as compared to the traditional looks and styles posted in WAYWRN, so they have value in shaking up your perspective. A bit off-topic, but does anyone know where the "In Her Eyes" blog at mensvogue.com disappeared to? It's been gone for a while but I've always wondered if she landed somewhere else. She always posted an interesting mix of found photos of celebrities and vintage style photography with self-clicked street fashion pics. While a bit NYC- and dandy-centric, I found the styles and looks that attracted her eye very interesting.

The blog was culled when men's vogue got consolidated. Amanda Brooks is still very active in the fashion writing biz though, and she has a book coming out next month.

Agreed. I've seen Robert Talbot and Etro paisley ties that are nearly identical.

Plus, the folder he's carrying picks up the red in the PS and the blue of the blazer.

Thanks for the info, Robin, especially for the heads-up about her book. I was a little disappointed to learn, after looking it up at Amazon, that it's about women's style but, hey, it will still be worth a look and perhaps a good gift for the gf.

I had forgotten her name so I'm glad you reminded me of it. One of those common names that brings a million results when you Google. Does she have any regular bylines that you know of, either on the web or in print, especially on men's fashion? Thanks again.
