Really, though, I feel as though experimenting with mixed drinks is a lot like DIY clothing alterations for most people. Too many folks are willing to sit around and drink the same old tried-and-true things they've had a million times before, or pour rum and coke in a glass and call it a night. As much as I'll always love a dirty martini or a last word, there's just too much fun to be had experimenting to limit yourself to tradition.

when I go to a place with a good bar, I just ask the bartender to come up with anything they recommend featuring these minimum elements: "gin, dry, interesting." The results have been excellent. I end up with concoctions laced with cynar, Laphroaig, lavender extract, egg white, absinthe or other randomness. I don't know what it will be until they hand it to me. Then I try to guess what is in it. It is much more interesting than just drinking a Manhattan (which I enjoy as well).

^ didn't we go over the metaxa sidecar a while back? If you squeeze the juice yourself, they are excellent. Not complicated, just a good mixed drink that you don't see everyday.

I have an excellent cosmo recipe (yes a cosmo) that tastes like a grown up drink and not sweet vileness. I have a 2 drink max rule on those. I have had people lose the ability to speak coherently after 2, and I am not out just to get people hammered. It is ten pounds of lead wrapped in a silk scarf. They don't see it coming.

Whenever I'm sick I drink hot metaxa with generous lemon until a) I can't feel my throat and b) I pass out.

Dunno why i'm putting this here, but anyways. Me and my girl have hit a rough patch lately, so I decided to come to her job and surprise her when she gets off. I put a bouquet of flowers on her car, and am just sitting here parked out by her car waiting for her to come out....

Thing is, she works at a really busy coffeeshop, and while they close at 1 am, sometimes she doesn't get out till like 3. Now I feel really creepy sitting here smoking mad cigarettes.

Also, I was on my phone, till I realized it was dying, and thought I might as well pull out my laptop and try to do some writing done... low and behold, someone has unsecured wifi!

    tl:dr version

    girlfriend fighting
thought it would be sweet to meet up with her after work
    put flowers on her car
sitting on laptop posting on fashion forums with stolen wifi in my car
    smoking lots of cigarettes

her car is also in the employee lot, with all her co workers cars....so if they all file out at once it might be awkward for her. especially if they catch a glimpse of the note i left on her windshield.

we've been dating for close to 3 years, so its not like that. but i still feel mad sketchy.

maybe its also cause i smoked a joint to my face when i got here.

    fuckkkk
