Can't say I've ever tried the Oni's, but I can't see how there could be much of a difference. Given shots of the denim, I doubt itd be easy to pick them apart. Perhaps the differences you see have more to do with the fact that one has been beat to **** in a one wash and the other is raw and unsanforized?

I wish I could wear the 18 oucne stuff. I've found two Samurai cuts to be great on me but that weight man... I can't handle it.

Are you referring to shoai or any oni in general?

I'm not too sure on their cuts: they only have a red and a blue. Red being relaxed and blue is regular.

Not sure how slim and/or nice of a cut that blue is.

Is it an old mannish repro cut?

Errr, the regular oni denim versus regular PBJ denim are noticeably quite different, and the AI denim and shoai denim are very different. I tried them on at Hinoya, where they're sold both raw and one-wash, and the denims are different in the same state, so it's not just an one-wash issue. It's tricky for me to quantify differences in slub well, but the PBJ is almost bumpier, the oni "knottier" and harder.

I was refering to the Shoais, which you seemed more interested in. Red is quite loose, blue is on the looser end of slim-straight but certainly a slim jean. Not very old-man repro from the pairs I've tried on. I like the blue cut. Random pic of John11Fs pair from sufu http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b4...t/P1010527.jpg

I'm fairly sure the AI-001 isn't sold raw anywhere in the world, especially not in Japan. The US market gets a lot of jeans in raw (i.e. 45rpm and PBJ) that are available in Japan only as one wash.

The Oni denim is what I was talking about, sold side by side raw and O/W. Sorry.
