I am in need of suggestions on what to wear to the prom.

Basically this is my first time purchasing a suit, so i need some advice on which brand/ sizing to wear to the prom

I'm kind of interested in the Dior suits but not sure yet

Aren't most if not all proms black tie, or at least tuxedo required (with any color tie)?

The recommended dress is a suit rather than a tux?
We probably need some more information to be helpful.
Is this suit basically going to be for the prom and similar social events, or will it also serve backup duty for weddings, funerals, interviews, etc?
What looks have you seen that appeal to you?
What is you date wearing?
What is your approximate budget?
If you want sizing advice it would probably help to give us some idea of your size/build.

All proms I have been to have been Tuxedo only, but who knows. I would never buy a tux.

At your age, that makes sense. When you get to the point in life where you know you're not going to outgrow it, buying a nice tux rather than renting a crappy one makes a lot of sense.

I hate the look of tux's though. I guess if I intended to attend formal events frequently I might consider it.

You didn't respond to the queries about whether the prom was black-tie, so let me ask it another way:

Gown or cocktail dress?

My understanding is that gowns are the female equivalent of black-tie. That being said, you should probably still ask around: it's arguably better to be under-dressed than over-dressed, if you must be one or the other.

If it is black-tie, you should check your local thrift stores and eBay for your size just in case you can buy a tuxedo for around the price of rental. But given your age, don't pay much more. Either way, get something classic.
