My wife and I recently saw the critically acclaimed French film "You Will Be My Son." The old family patriarch (who is the "heavy" in the story) is inter alia quite the shoe freak. In an early scene, we see him using cognac to polish his boots. He is particularly a John Lobb fan, and later in the movie he buys his newly discovered protege a pair of JLP RTW . The price given in the movie was 2,900 Euros. I know that Europe has VAT and whatnot, but that seems way out of line. The shoes appeared to be ordinary calfskin, nothing exotic. Most JLPs I see for sale in these part are $1,350 or thereabouts. Was the price exaggerated in the movie for dramatic effect?
