Post pictures of a *properly* fitting dress shirt!

On my MTM shirts, the shirtmaker gets it right, but on many RTW shirts, the shoulder seam is a little too far out for me. I quite like mafoofan's and Matt's sleeve/shoulder treatment and wonder whether a good RTW shirt can have the armholes brought in--narrowing the shoulder width and bringing the sleeves up onto the top outer edge of the shoulders. Suppose that the shirt is a little too large in the chest as well (often the case for me), so that there's extra material there as well. Can such a RTW shirt with too-wide shoulders be somewhat Neapolitanized? Mafoofan, Manton, anyone?

The problem is more than one of mere width. If you alter your RTW shirts to be more narrow, the sleeves themselves will have to accomodate more of your upper shoulders. On my shirt, the sleeves were cut fuller in order to accomplish this.

One thing that just popped into my mind... I think I unbuttoned the cuff in the second photo, so you could see where the sleeve drops. Both cuffs really look like the left arm..and the left arm is actually slightly larger to accommodate my watch.

Not sure why that just came to me...

if the chest as well as the shoulder are too wide, then yes it can be done.
the sleeves will be removed. the armhole will be moved in and cut. since the armhole is just moved but not changed in size, the sleeve will be returned with no problem.
the sleeve length may be a small fraction shorter.

Here's a hasty snap of the linen shirt I wore today. I like the fit. It is a tad looser than its cotton counterparts, but being linen, the extra room makes sense.
