If one is interested in Shinola at discount, try looking at TJ Maxx. Marked $199-$229, I've seen some red clearance down to low as $139.

However, I ended up getting a Baume & Mercier Clifton automatic for $860 (including signing up for the credit card to get 10% off). I still have the TJ Maxx price tag on as I'm not sure if I want to return it.

Is Shinola going out of business or something? They are on deep sale at Off Fifth, the Rack, Marshalls,...I am very impressed with the one I picked up at the Rack for $120. After selling the box, papers, strap,... and buying a nice Hirsch strap I ended up having $700 worth of watch for less than a timex weekender.

I'm developing a bit of problem with lower-mid Seiko dive watches. The problem is I keep buying them. Two inbound at present (random web pics):

Love the classic retro '60s style of the SRP775 "Turtle":

And I was incapable of showing any self restraint when it came to the cheerful colours of the SRPB09 "Blue Lagoon Samurai":

Seikos have absolutely spoiled me for costlier dive watches. I just don't get 10 times the enjoyment out of "tool watches" that cost 10 times the price.

Here's a couple more pics. I think Shinola is the perfect <$40 watch.

I did the same thing with a DW ladies watch a year or so ago. A watch outlet in Ontario Mills had Daniel Wellington 37MM ladies watches marked down to $65. I sell the box, papers, and strap for $30 and buy a vintage shell cordovan strap for 15.

Here's a pic. It's the watch I wear to funerals and weddings.

I like the design of the Daniel Wellington watches, but I cannot stand their logo. The backwards D doesn't make any sense stylistically to me and throws the design off considerably. I think that Christopher Ward watches suffered from the same challenge in both their "Cw" and "Chr Ward" logo days. Its as though they designed their logo early on with a shoestring budget, but never redesigned it as their brand expanded. (please note: I'm not ragging on anyone who has watches from either brand! This is just my opinion. I still think Daniel Wellington watches look pretty good overall)

A great bargain watch is Frederique Constant - you get a swiss made automatic watch with sapphire and great classic design elements. Saw one at Winners for under $600! The index is great looking, although a very similar design to Patek.

Agreed. Would be better without the mercedes hand, but DLW watches sells some really nice bezels and mod parts for those so inclined (there are also plenty of modders that will do the labor for you cheaply)

I like my Shogun so much, I've been toying with the idea of a modded blue Shogun to go along with it, but that seems a little foolish, especially since I already have a blue Oris Aquis that I like a lot as well. Seikos can be so addicting.
