Okay I feel like a damn fool for getting this 9500 GT 1 gig video card. When I just saw this morning Newegg is selling the 240GT 1 gig for only 15 dollars more after rebates.

Is DDR5 that much better than DDR3?

From what I've researched the cards seem to be identical except the "texel" is doubled on the GDDR5, whatever that is.

I'm not much of a gamer, and the most intensive games I ever want to play are Morrowind and Oblivion (both of which run just fine with the 9500).

Still, in the interest of future proofing, and getting a bigger monitor in a few months, is the GDDR5 worth worrying about?

I am building my parents a new box pretty soon and can stick the 9500 GT in theirs and keep the 240GT for myself, even though I'd feel bad b/c my rents really need nothing more than onboard video... heh.

^^ GPU performance is not going to be materially increased if the sole criteria is memory speed of the graphics card. I'd stand pat. If you really want to be future proof get the Radeon 5770 or another DX11 card.

Thanks, didn't really want to worry about this heh. Due to Linux driver issues, I'd never get an ATI. Even if it is a better card.
