Places to Buy Levis in NYC?

I guess Levi's are considered old fashioned these days, but I'll be buying my first pair of jeans in years, and I'm going back to old school basics.

What's a good place in NYC (preferably below 14th) with a good selection where I can shop and try stuff on without being bothered by salespeople?

Where is it exactly? Have you shopped there?

There must be ton of places to buy Levi's obviously, I was just looking for somewhere I could try on a few pairs in peace without salespeople lurking and offering the fake "ooh, that cut looks great on you!" schpiel I got when I tried shopping for jeans last weekend.

Well, there are no Mervyn's or Sears there.

well, Levis are pretty much everywhere unless you're looking for something specific like Levis Vintage Collection.

Well, reading the posts before responding usually helps. I want someplace with a broad selection of fits, since I don't know what kind I will like best, and salespeople who will leave me be. Below 14th.

he's right. levis are everywhere...and if you don't want to be bothered, just say so, though, personally, i like it when people try to help me. they have a lot more experience fitting others into jeans than you do fitting yourself into them, or so it seems.
you sound a little grumpy. i recommend exercise...maybe a little yoga, maybe some distance running. hell, maybe some drugs. something to get those endorphins flowing

Drugs are destructive.

I'd been warned about the Streetwear Forum.

if youve been warned then you have no one to blame but yourself.

OMG Jeans Store. There's one on 14th between University and 5th Ave, and about a dozen littered through out Broadway as you walk towards and in SoHo.

Thanks for the suggestions. I did end up in one of those small stores on Broadway in the NYU area. I tried on various sizes and styles to my hearts content with no one pressuring me and ended up with some basic 505s for $35. Can't beat that.
