Hey guys,

I am looking for a personal stylist in New York. Not someone to help me with my clothing - but someone to sit down with me for an hour and go over my facial shape and what hairstyles and sunglasses would be best for it. I figure this is worth the price since it is information that will stay useful for years to come.

Problem is, I don't want to shell out a lot of money to someone who is fresh out of fashion school. I want someone who knows what they are talking about. This is often info that is not easily found on google.

I know its a long shot, but does anyone have info or ideas for how I can find someone good for this kind of session? Thanks. Price is not an issue.

You could try an image consultant, maybe someone from the AICI's list of locals. However, your request sounds best handled by two specialists, a good hair stylist and a good optician.

been lurking for a while, but rarely reply. my college roommate went through a similar situation (just graduated ivy league, moved down here to nyc, and wanted to make a great/stylish impression on people, but had no idea a friend how to change his look). after asking around and getting a bunch of recommendations, he came across some stylist girl named salina awesome, and she did wonders for him, (one of those new faces making a name for themselves here in the nyc style scene). not sure of her contact info, but i'm sure you can google her and find it. i don't know why you don't want to find someone right out of fashion school, they have fresh ideas, and are probablly less expensive! but generally i think your best bet is to ask around and get suggestions from real people. or you can just try and score a really fashionable girlfriend. :p

That's really a smart decision you have taken, you have done a good thing by opting for personal stylist. You will surely not be disappointed, but make sure that you have chosen a good and experienced personal stylist who can do some justice to your looks. Great post, thanks for sharing.
