How much can I expect to pay? How much should I tip? What exactly do they do to feet and is it uncomfortable?

I go with my girlfriend all the time, so I learned from a pro. Expect to pay on average around $25-$30 for a decent pedicure. A nicer salon will be more, a hole in the wall will be less. I usually tip 20% and my GF says this is the norm.

As far as what to expect, they will soak your feet, clip and/or file your nails, trim the cuticles if you choose, buff your feet a bit, give a quick massage with lotion, clean your nails, then wrap with a hot towel. Not gonna lie, it's pretty amazing.

Yea I know a little too much about this.

I'd say one should tip 20% for just about all barber/salon services.

Apparently, somebody has never had a pedicure.

Missed one thing. Technicians put in a solution that eats away at dead skin. It is the reason they can virtually eliminate callouses on the feet.

I fully understand the need for good personal hygiene but what is the appeal to this? Doesn't it make you feel, for the lack of a better term, sissy? I can't imagine it's as pleasurable as getting shaven by a good barber. I'm not knocking it but I just don't understand it.

If you plan on wearing sandals, its pretty much a necessity.
