There is absolutely nothing on that list that I'd bring, pretty much every item screams "American tourist."

I'd go with two jeans, a pair of linen drawstring pants, sneakers for day (I like Tigers myself) Chelseas or lace-ups for evening, one lightweight sweater, a bunch of tees, and a few well-fitting button-ups (maybe a linen one for day, but that's not really for evening, especially in Paris). Polo shirts are ok for daytime, but just make sure they aren't faded and frayed. I'd go with a linen blazer myself, as it shifts well from day to evening. I wouldn't wear it on the plane though, it'll look like **** unless you're up front and can have it hung up for you.

Things to skip:

Oxford cloth shirts
chinos/khakis
flip flops
dark pants
black shoes
the scarf

That's at least the feeling I got. When I went to France, I was told by my French friends that polos were sort of played out, although I do remember seeing a lot of Ralph Lauren polos in Paris now that I think about it. I guess you could go either way, but I would stick to well-fitting, summer weight button-ups over polos if I were you.

You will need jeans. Northern Europe can be cool even in July. Shorts are ok during the day for sightseeing but are generally not worn to bars or restaurants.

Please leave the American uniform at home: baggy chinos, polo, boat shoes (or white sneakers), and a baseball hat.

Bring shorts if you want to look like you're in college (that's what they call high school on that side of the lake). If you are on styleforum asking for real advice, which it seems you are serious and you are definitely on SF: leave the shorts at home, LDO. I recently went to Coachella where it was crowded and hot, but I sweated it out in jeans instead of shorts for 3 days because I care.

Based on your post count it would appear you're much more interested and committed to style than I am, so there is really no possible excuse in the entire world to bring warm weather wear. I'd also recommend picking up a pair of mink boots before you depart. Edit: I just reread OP. I was actually responding more to DrPat above me saying "Shorts are ok during the day" when clearly they're never appropriate, but light pink shorts actually sound really cool. I think you might be able to disregard the above advice if the shorts are pink.

Not true. I've lived in Europe for the past 8 years. People do wear shorts. Just not for working, in bars, or in restaurants. Nobody will look at you funny if it's 35 deg and you are walking around in shorts. But some churches (especially in southern Europe) won't let you in with shorts.

I suppose they are appropriate (on occasion) if the goal is to fit in. But I think as the body of knowledge that is styleforum, it's our duty to inform OP not just in how to pass, but in how to get an A. That is- advise not just in how to blend in, but in how to look fantastic. And although I do not know much about Paolo, based on the responses I read I imagine we should also be also advising a style that will get the respectable women of France and Netherlands to drop their panties. I have a hard time seeing shorts in any variation achieving either of those objectives.
