The Blue Points have a square toe whereas the authentics are round. To me, the authenics are much more pleasing to the eye.

Get the real deal. IIRC, JFK wore these same shoes. I'm wearing them right now and have been every day for the past 6 months. Love em.

I've really been considering getting some navy boat shoes, but I'm just getting started with my new wardrobe and don't even have a lot of the basics yet.

I really like the Quoddy's though, and this thread isn't helping me lay off em. :\\

I'm currently a fan of Alden's boat shoe. Very nicely made.

I own the Aldens in dark brown. The price is more than the sperrys but the leather quality is much better and the shoes are more comfortable than the sperrys IMO. FWIW, however, I also own the sperrys in navy because I like the white laces.

Where can you find the aldens? I don't see any boatshoes on their website.

I can see with shorts or chinos of various colors, but with denim would it be too much blue?

Or maybe some gray jeans, that might be cool.

I'm wearing with a medium blue wash jean right now, but they look way more awesome with my dark gray jeans and not bad with my waxed, black jeans.

I wear them with dark denim all the time. I get what you mean, but the white laces help break up the line between jeans and shoes.

It never really bothered me.

Yeah, white laces helps. Quoddy's from South Willard have navy laces though.

BTW:

one other thing...I know they're boat shoes and it's cool to get them wet, but if you do just be prepared to have your feet and/or socks turn blue for about a day.
Sacrilege!

I purchased the Aldens and was pleased with their quality and comfort. My only problem was that I felt they ran a little small. I've returned them and now am waiting for a half size larger. I think I'm going to really enjoy them.
