Opinion on knitwear from Suitsupply?

Is anyone able to comment on the quality and value of knitwear from Suitsupply? I'm currently in my mid-20s and the Australian wool navy sweater and black long-sleeve polo are what's on my bucket list at the moment. I know that people gravitate towards Suitsupply for suits, but how about knitwear? If it isn't appropriate, what brands offer reasonably priced knitwear, besides your typical mall-brands like JCrew, Banana Republic, Massimo Dutti, and Club Monaco?

Not interested in suits at the moment, given ongoing WFH mandates. Just looking for clean semi-business attire that I can wear at home or for a quick errand.

Admittedly, I have only owned one article of knitwear from Suitsupply, but I wouldn't recommend them for such items. The merino turtleneck I purchased started pilling relentlessly after only a few wears. Same thing happened with the socks I bought there, holes started appearing very quickly. Having said that, they are still my go-to for jackets and waistcoats, so hopefully I'm not coming across as too biased against Suitsupply.

I have only one polo from SuSu and I really like it. It's Merino wool in a pique weave with mother of pearl buttons. Can't say much about piling as I've worn it just a few times.

They have held up really well and I wear them quite a bit.
I cold wash in mesh bags and flat dry, but even so I still got a bit of shrinkage. Still wearable but slightly smaller than I like.
So going forward, I'll probably size up next time.

Any chance you can comment on the sizing? Is it just me or are their knits in general much more slim that your typical mall brands? Mediums feel like small, and larges feel like medium when I went and tried them on.

Yes, I'd say they are a lot more slim. And I love it

Asket merino knitwear is pretty good, has 15 sizes. It pills a bit but reduces with washes. A step up from uniqlo extrafine merino /mid brand quality for sure. Cavour is good on sale which they still should have some stock of right now. I like colhays but they would be outside most budgets

I went for my usual size. Haven't worn them much to ever wash them yet - I have a merino polo and cashmere henley, so I've been giving them just a good airing so far. But merino\cashmere requires a hand wash, so they wouldn't shrink.
Cashmere is not of the highest quality, so it's going to pill eventually, but merino is in pique weave and holds well.
If you are looking for a cheap knits I can recommend John Henric - they are running 60% off right now (and you can get 10 extra off with code Vinter10), it's pretty good for it's price and is also slim. I hate baggy knits! Modern men aren't fat

Merino is merino, there won't be much difference than SuitSupply even if you pay $350-400 for a similar crewneck sweater elsewhere. You always want to minimize washing and want to minimize pilling thru infrequent wear and maintenance.

Any chance you can comment on just how much shrinkage you experienced with the cotton/silk polos? Just bought my first one and I sized up because the last polo I bought was from Sunspel and it damn near shrinked a whole size (practically lost an inch in the chest). That being said, sizing up in the Susu polo gives it quite an oversized fit and I reckon if it does not shrink after all it will never work. Thank you in advance

How are you washing? You should be hand washing yourself with a natural detergent with cold, not luke warm, but cold water, after washing and wringing out, stretch it lights and hang dry.

I definitely did not do that with the Sunspel polos but I do plan on doing it with the Susu one. I machine-washed in a mesh bag and hung to try. I will likely hand wash the Susu one in cold water and hang dry.
Did your Susu ones shrink dramatically or maybe just ~0.5” across the chest?

I don't really own any cotton Susu garments, have some older merino garments from them and they did not shrink at all.
