That house made from carpet samples would have an awesome R-value.

I might try to build an office out back out of some scraps.

Cellulose insulation is newspaper and it doesn't burn because it's treated with borate, otherwise, yeah, but I'd be even more worried about wind blowing them over since that is the biggest stress for light construction. I think the tires seem to be the best average person solution.

The grass and newspaper are packed so tight that it's nearly fire proof. The frayed edges of the bales char and oxygen can't get to the center of the bales. They're usually formed with a width of 18-24", which is about 3 times the normal width of a wall. That's also why heavy timber construction is safer than steel for buildings that aren't too tall to require steel or concrete construction.

so a friend of a friend works for dan (guy in the op), and told us about a "bone house" that they are doing now. it is under construction but we trespassed anyway.

there is a bathroom where dozens of mirrors are set up in a way that wherever you look, you see...well youself .|. (think carnival mirrors)

also a mirror in the shape of ^^
