Is it possible to take in a jean at the waist without touching the ass seam running between the pockets? Maybe by making two slits on either side of the back of the waistband just to bring it in an inch and a half or so?

^^ BoO x Sperry I believe. There's a thread or two on them somewhere around here. I forget where I've seen them but I'd check the usual suspects (I did find them online... somewhere).

I got a dark brown LGC bridle belt and love it... now I need a wallet.

I like the looks of the Hipster wallet, since it's thin (I currently have a card case) but rather spacious:
http://lib.store.yahoo.net/lib/handm...er/hipster.jpg

Question is, do I go with the dark brown as shown in that photo, or get some combination of a tan or brown shrunken grain exterior with a brown or dark brown leather interior?
example of tan shrunken grain with brown interior:
http://lib.store.yahoo.net/lib/handm...shrunkenw1.jpg (from LGC)
http://supertalk.superfuture.com/sho...=14003&page=10 (from guy with the hipster wallet)

The tan exterior seems a bit light, and I'm just not sure about the grain on the brown shrunken grain either. Right now I'm leaning towards the basic wallet, but any convincing reasons to go with the shrunken grain? More order was already placed, but I've been second guessing it and have a day or so in which to change my mind. Thanks

I've asked before but I'm really itching now. Anyone know where I can get a band collar button down, preferably very slim cut. APC made one and so did Shades of Greige but I can't find either online Here's a picture of the Shades one. EDIT: after searching more, I remember that epaulets or pockets or even a contrast color collar would be nice to have to take the weird Euro and/or priest look out of the equation.

Any idea about the model for me (low waist, not tight, str8 leg, not saggy)?
why here diesel, 7 for mankind, Adriano Gold. etc etc are never mentioned?
are not so good as claimed or what?
thanks

lorcar -

There's been lots of discussion about why people here don't talk about those brands, but basically it is because nearly everyone here is a proponent of Raw jeans. When you buy jeans from "mall brands" like 7FAM, Diesel, etc, they come stone-washed with artificial distressing, and since the distressing is artificial ("wear" from folds where you do not have folds, completely irrational fading, etc), and generally the cuts are crapppy, it is very hard to find jeans in this genre that "look right".

Raw jeans come completely undistressed, either starched or once-washed (to shrink) or just completely raw. There is a lot to read about them, but generally the idea is to wear them as long as possible until they get too dirty / smelly (months of wear), and wash them gently and hang to dry. This will result in a pair of jeans that are completely unique to you, and are going to last you at least 2 years worth of literal everyday wear.

Granted the supposed disparity between raw and stone-washed denim is both indistiginguishable and completely pointless to the average human being, there is definitely a huge leap in quality and just plain nice looks to someone who cares enough. And I'd consider asking about jeans in an online forum as "caring enough".

So ya, BiG sells a lot of the big-name Japanese raw denim brands (like Pure Blue Japan, Somet, Eternal, Samurai, Etc etc.) that quite frankly make some of the best jeans money can buy. In fact, many of these companies are dedicated to reproducing Levi's styles (such as the 1947 or 1966 Levi's 501 cuts), although many create their own style. You have the unique opportunity to live near one of the very few high end raw denim dealers in the nation, so what you need to do is take advantage of that by simply visiting the store and talking to the sales people. The people who work at these places (like Blue in Green SoHo) are ridiculously knowledgable about the product they sell, and if you tell them what you want they will be able to find it, and if it doesn't exist, they can probably alter an existing product.

Maybe someone can give me some ideas, I've been looking for a specific boot forever and have yet to find one that I'm happy with. I'm looking to spend under $200. What I'm looking for
  • Work Boot
  • Black
  • Leather sole
  • Sleek sole (ie NOT chunky. See pic)
  • Plain toe (MAYBE a cap toe, but I prefer plain)
  • I prefer Goodyear welted, but will settle for blake stitched if sole is smaller
  • Distressed leather

I'm not really sure you're going to get a sleek sole in a work boot. I'm partial to the Red Wing GTs, which are around $200.

You can definitely get a sleek sole boot like you requested, but it won't be a work boot, unless you're talking about something like the Buttero. Note that boot is about $400.
