At the risk of further filling this thread with discussion re: customs, I do have a quick question that I was hoping someone here might be able to shed some light on:

I ordered something from Slam Jam Socialism for ~$987 (shipped to the US), and just received a notification from DHL that I have to pay duties to the tune of ~$110.

I know that orders under $800 are exempt from duties, so this logically led me to conclude that anything above $800 would be assessed duties only on the amount over $800. E.g. I would be assessed duties on $987-800 = $187 worth of goods.

Was my assumption incorrect?

you pay duties on the entire value of the item.

All I can say is you got off lightly, a mere 11% of duties. Here in the UK we don't get a $800 waiver, everything over £15 attracts 20% VAT and then there are import duities also for goods over £135, these duties vary from 2.5% upwards. We are getting absoutley screwed here.

Is that good on everything/anything? If so and someone else has one they aren't going to use, I could trigger pull with it!

Found out it won't work for me per KA1555's post below, rats.

Everyone's discount varies (either 20%, 25%, 30%, or 40% - a rather stupid promotion, IMO), and it's only valid on sale/clearance items found here.

With the following exclusions:

MEN: Adidas, All Saints, Armani Collezioni, Burberry, Burberry Formal, Canali Tailored, Comme Des Garcon Play Shoes, Gucci, Jigsaw, Louis Vuitton, Made to Measure, Mens Tech/Electronics (Beats by Dr Dre, Bodimetrics, Coin, Fitbit, Homedics, Hoodie Buddie, Jam, Jetson, Martian, Men's Store at Bloomingdale's Tech, Misfit, Mophie, Moto 360, Motorola, Native Union, O-Range, Protocol, Tumi, Master & Dynamic, Impossible Project, Wonderwoof, Tile), Moncler, Nike, Prada, Reiss, Salvatore Ferragamo Accessories, Salvatore Ferragamo Shoes, Salvatore Ferragamo Ties, Sandro, Shoe Trees, Suitsupply, Ted Baker Clothing, Accessories, and Select Ties, The Kooples, Thomas Pink, Tumi, UGG

, Whistles, Y-3 Shoes, Z Zegna Dress Shirts and Ties, Z Zegna Tuxedos, Hanro.

My discount code was 30%. I won't be using it, so if anyone wants it, just PM me.

If you get too good of a deal you have to pay income tax on the difference paid vs. the value

Are you referring to the legal requirement to pay sales tax for online purchases where the tax wasn't collected at time of purchase? True. And we all do that, of course...

gentry nyc is having a 4th sale. They have a killer deal on the hender scheme 10 / Air Jordan IV model for $651. I've never seen them that low.

https://www.thebureaubelfast.com/shop/sale has them for about $625 shipped after conversion and they have almost all sizes. Also there are some Visvim, Viberg, Blue Blue Japan and lots of EG on sale. I picked up the MIP-04's / vans.

Sorry - someone already posted TBB sale earlier I didn't see.
