What's the deal with Au Revoir not deducting VAT on sale items? I thought VAT was paid to the government anyway, so why is it that they can chose to exclude some items?

Chiming in on RG. I've ordered three separate times from them (W+H, RG), and have never been hit with customs. Arrives in about a week or so, IIRC.

NAFTA should apply, meaning you won't be hit with customs from Canada. Shop away!

I'm pretty sure it just means they're pocketing the money. But yes, VAT is paid to the government and so they don't have to tax sale items.

I believe NAFTA applies to goods made in Canada exported to the US or Mexico and vice versa. So clothing made in Japan for example would not be covered by NAFTA according to the rules of origin. I could be wrong but that's the impression I have.

You are entirely right, but I was focusing on Wings v. Horns that people were looking at, which I think is largely made in Canada. So NAFTA should cover those items and people should be safe.
