I want to purchase a fairly basic summer shoe from End. Is it advisable to buy it now or will it go much deeper when the sale proper starts?

IME the percent discounts on individual items don’t tend to increase substantially, so stacking with an “Extra 25%” off code or purchasing during a Free Shipping offer would likely be the only reasons you might wait.

I find END. sales to be very underwhelming tbh compared to other places. They have a very good selection of items but most of their prices are higher than at other places. I'm from Europe though so it might be different depending on where you're from. I'd suggest browsing on END. for the shoes that you want and then look for another place to buy them.

Seems like it's only worth it when their pricing is bizarrely wrong and I have no idea why their pricing seems to break sometimes, but they honor it.

One time I got a CDG half zip for $50 and a Rick Owens Gimp (fleece, the priciest version) for $200. I kept them both but that instant flip pricing. For some reason I didn't cop the $350 mainline leather black ramones at that price and I have no idea why, in hindsight, as. I'll rarely ever see that again.
