Mr. Porter works fine for basics on discount esp. in non fashun forum sizes (US 40 and up). Nobody's getting crazy shearlings for cheap anymore, but I picked up some staple ties. You can always return too, which is a plus when trying new stuff out for (relatively) cheap.

someone should grab that b+ cord camo blazer, pictures suck and do not do it justice, its hard to describe or show in pics but everytime somebody has gotten up close to it (on me) they compliment the subtle camo under the cord 'cuz it just looks olive/khaki otherwise, I kopped at retail and no regrets, small fits 44/46 btw

Porter is just buying what they know will sell. They've done risky buys and it didn't work for them. They're a great company and are obviously smart in wanting to sell stuff at retail, which most things do. I can't tell you how many things I bought at retail that never made it past sale. Fashion has been getting pretty boring lately in general. It's like the film industry. Designers are catering to what the public likes or will buy. Rick Owens recently said he's bored of fashion and isn't going to reinvent the wheel anymore so he will stick to basic tweaks in his designs. When I went to Saint Laurent HQ everyone was talking about how Hedi wants to do less statement fashion and more everyday cali styles. Luxury versions of basic everyday wear because thats what people are wearing. If you go to fashion shows nowadays, everyone is wearing some sort of simple minimalist outfit with a pair of sneakers/nikes. Not quite sure what the deal is but I don't mind it.

Mr Porter sucks because I can't buy nice clothes from them for dirt cheap anymore. They should focus more on #hotdeals and less on running a successful business.

Based on my experience with Jcrew and Grenson items sold by Porter, both of these brands are definitely cheaper elsewhere even when compared to Porter's 70% off discounts. I think the deals are okay, but definitely not the cheapest. Usually the better items are gone after the first round of discounts anyway - 30%.

A tip when on Mr Porter when viewing something they have sold out of. They now only show Sold Out instead of the latest price it sold for, but if you click on Size help and product measurements, it still has the lowest price it last sold for. I sometimes find this useful for one reason or another whether it be seeing if I should wait on further drops on a similar item or to see if the sale price somewhere else validates acting quickly etc. Thought this might come in handy down the road when comparing.

That would be helpful but it doesn't seem to be working for me
