A solid start to the season, IMO.

That was fun.

Watched the S2 finale again (in its full non-broadcast 1080P glory....normally I don't care about the jump to 1080p, but this was noticeably gorgeous even on my 32" TV and the surround sound felt cleaner)

Then watched the premiere. Good stuff, big opening.

Looks like they opted to just have Selmy show up and be like "sup guys"? instead of trying to hide his identity.

I thought the changes they made all worked. Including the Selmy change. I do however really hope that we get to see Strong Belwas in later seasons, he's a great character.

On the whole, very strong start!

Yeah, that was a surprising change in the Belwas/Selmy storyline but, at least for Selmy, it is working. I hope we get Belwas soon and I hope the casting is good. They are going to miss a major scene with him soon when he kills that bigshot at the first city they approach with the Unsullied.

Looking forward to next week when the Unsullied are transfered over to Dany's possession.

If they do bring him in, I wouldn't be surprised if it is part of what goes down with the Unsulliued

Watching the finale, I wonder if that is truly the last we see of Xaro? He comes back in ADwD and could have a lot of role left to play. His new character is even less trustworthy if he survives.

Also, IIRC, he is totally gay (he doesn't steal a glance during the scene where she wears the one-breast outfit) but in the show he is banging up a storm with her handmaiden.

After all the violence in this show, for me the most cringeworthy moment ever was when the slave trader cut off that Unsullied soldier's nipple with the dagger. Guh.

Perhaps I'm a bit hard to please, but I think I would've enjoyed it more if they'd advanced the plots of 1 or 2 characters more than just try and give a little for everyone.

Still, it sets things up nicely which I suppose is what the start of the season needs.

Even after showing how cheap life is in this series with the Season 1 finale, I think having a pretty consistent cast throughout the second season will...

...stun the **** out of people when the Red Wedding goes down, amidst other shenanigans. Lots of major and minor characters die in this book, though I'm wondering how far into the novel they will stop. I'm hoping I get to see that twat Joff get poisoned in the finale.
