It is clearly a bad idea as the existence of a few ads at the start of the page leads to shrinkage all the way down

So unless SF is planning to have enough ads to fill the whole of the right side of the page it is totally self-defeating

The affiliate logos at the top of each page were great. Unobtrusive, yet we all know where they are when we want to click on them.

If SF really wants to run affiliate logos down the page, at least reduce it to one column. Having two great big chunky columns of affiliate logos is not helpful to those of us with smaller/lower res monitors.

Guys - as someone else mentioned in TransMod, there will be a lot of boxes moved over the next 2 days until the forum transition is complete on Wed. Even after that, there will be bugs and glitches, and things to get used to.

Ive been on the test site for a bit, as some of you also have - and the sidebar and new layout does take some getting used to, but it does not look like this. It was strange at first, but it definitely looks much cleaner, more professional, and has some super duper neato new features.

Im the last one to adapt to change, but trust me, its worth it.

Actually, in the new forum, the body of the threads wrap back around, so the right hand column is not empty, as it is now. We are just playing around with the capabilties VB (God knows why.)

We also use the right hand column for other things - examples include product reviews (right now, the feed is not great, but we plan to add feed from people like ShoptheFinest, and members can add items manually,) lists of a seller's other active items in the new B&S system (Spoopoker, this one is for you), and a preview of your PM box (on the front page only, when you are logged in, of course.)

Other features will be threaded PMs, a whole new B&S system, lots of new editorial content, including regular interviews and articles about clothing and shoes manufacture, etc...

There are always naysayers, but I think that most of you guys will like it.

Cheers,

Fok.

WTF JUST HAPPENED.
The entire right side of the forum is littered with ****** ads. Is this what this forum has become? Fail webmasters..

I'm on my iPhone. I have 4" of screen cut in half. Do not want.

Very annoying to browse from work. Is there any way I can remove all the ads and images from SF when browsing from the office?

Yes it is an utter waste of space alongside the advertisements at the side.

The intention of wide screens was not to facilitate such a move - it was to make reading/browsing/presentation of serious content easier .

Well I guess we just sit tight and wait to see what the final changes will bring. Spoo mentioned that it turns out well, I wish we had a screenshot of the trial version though.

It is counter-productive...

There are ways and means to attract potential customers to the SF commercial partners through articles or even sock puppets...

It is spoiling the all SF experience ...

The logo on top is enormous and the column is too wide for anyone using ipad or phones..
