^ The "For the greater Good"/Commonwealth guys (DC streetwear boutiques) do that all the time. I think it's been a big boon to there business, they even sponsored some of the Homecoming at Howard shows.

Not quite sure what kind of DC venue would work for Farinelli's though.....

i think first and foremost, you have to decide who your target demo is before proceeding with any tactic(s). stylish women, sure, but from where, who do what, who make how much who spend how much.

1) Set up a loyalty system for women. If women feel comfortable shopping at a certain place they will most likely visit there often, and a loyalty system will enhance this. For example, accumulating points which can go into a discount i:e $100 spent is 10 points, 50 points gets you fifty percent off an item or similar. See this often with bigger retailers as well as rewards such as private sales, vouchers in the mail etc.

2) An idea which I have for both mens and womens especially for the more out there pieces is to attach a little booklet/page showing a few ideas about how to wear the item. Preferably in picture form (as well as with recommendations what would go well with it) which I think could work because sometimes people see an item of clothing on a rack and can't picture how to wear it.

3) Establish a relationship with a local health spa/hairdresser/nail place thingy that if the women spends over a certain amount they get a discount/free thing there; this kind of thing seems to work all the time and would be benefitial for the other business as well. Can then expand this to possibly having them have a "feature item of the week" for example maybe hung up on a wall in their business where customers will walk in and see it straight away.

4) Sounds silly but I think it would be pretty funny and could probably work... hire a few of those people who specialise in standing completely still (forgot what they are called), put the clothes on them and have them stand on campus, main streets etc wearing the clothes. Have a sales assistant or even just brochures there showing what they are wearing, and rotate the clothing. Would definetly be attention grabbing atleast!

I think all these could work pretty well... a local store that until recently had only done mens (high end i:e Rick Owens, Ann D, junya) just opened a womens section with similar high end brands and the store owner tells me the womens is doing exceptionally. The women's section is upstairs and I reckon this works well so women don't have to try stuff on neccessarily in front of men. Also their is a coffee shop attached which works well (in a pretty trendy area, women come in for coffee have a look at clothes).

dave

edit: Also not sure if you have anything in this sort of manner but picking up some jewellery/cosmetics could be a good idea to boost women's sales and you could tie in a discount this way as well.

Try to sponsor a sorority, and all the sororities if possible... be like 35% off any item one night only, serve drinks if possible

That struck me too but I think it's the 'tards here debating and flailing over demos more than mauro and co.

It's a tough demo and market no matter what angle he goes in for.

A boutique opened by me and they planned on being a Context type joint. 6 months later they sell Ed Hardy and Affliction because oddly, bills require they be paid.

Unless you suddenly grew a ****** in the past couple of minutes, I somehow doubt your personal experience will mean much in the way of knowing how to bring women into the store.

There was so much nonsensical bullshit in his posts. Tell me please, how did you pick just one to go with?

Price discounts are not the answer to building a sustainable clientele base. You want people to be loyal to your products not to your discounts.
