Need help: My fiancee is being silly and insisting she spend way too much on my 30th bday present -

As per the title, my girlfriend is being impossible and insisting on buying me something sick. Yes, this is not a major problem, but I feel guilty so I want her to spend her £££ wisely.

I wanted a Swaine Adeney Brigg bag, but am really not that keen on any of the shapes, and saw a similar one at Dunhill at a higher cost and at a slightly higher quality level.

That said, I am not 100% sure I want my super-memorable 30th bday present to be a work bag.

So ..... what would you do with 1500 on one item?

I have lots of clothes, shoes, watches, cufflinks, etc., so want a sort of one-off item.

This is sort of a douche thread but I am genuinely looking for help.

    Thanks a lot

why not go somewhere with her for a weekend or something. make it a memory instead of an item.

I go away a fair bit already, and she wants to get something I can have forever! She is sentimental and wants me to remember for ages! I'd prefer a moped.

Quick! Marry her and she will no longer feel the need to spend major $$$ on you.

I'm not necessarily complaining -- but feel bad nevertheless.

lol fag. what's with people feeling guilty about gifts? Unless you don't intend to be with her for much longer or you'd never spend that kind of money on her, why would you feel bad that she wants to do something special for you? If you really want a moped her $1500 could be the downpayment on one since they only cost about $3-5k

Do you have some hobbies or pastimes? Start there. Fuck, my gf is planning on getting me a gift for my bday coming up in late October and I've been vetting gifts for a solid month now. I've narrowed it down to a few handguns I'm choosing between. I guess I'm interested in a lot of different things, so when someone lets me pick out a gift, it's pretty easy for me to come up with a list of stuff I'd love to have.

Sounds like you should get a watch if you don't already have one? Omega Seamaster perhaps? If no, I would think maybe an unnecessary leather good that you would get use out of every day or a pen.

I'd probably get something I'd likely never receive or buy for myself under other circumstances but would remain durable (watches get damaged, etc), so yeah, something like an absurdly nice pen or other traditional desk item you can use for work, since that's probably what you'll be doing for another 30 years (I am also turning 30 soon.... :fu: )

I'd buy myself my own watches, also feel the same way about vacations, etc.

For my 30th, I plan on having a nice dinner with friends at a good restaurant, some drinks at a bar, etc. Pretty normal stuff but I can't think of anything else I want to do. I might get myself a wristwatch.

There is a lot of shit I'd love to buy, but my fiance wants it to be something that lasts ages and ages -- probably something i could hand down to my kid someday. We got engaged on her 30th so aside from the ring I bought a few other pretty nice things because it was a major occasion. She is treating my 30th as some similarly monumentous event so things like a 3D TV are out of the question as I'd probably ditch it in a few years.

Watch wise-- I have a few pretty decent pieces already and unfortunately for me, my next acquisition will be far in excess of her budget.

I think the briefcase is the way to go -- I'm sure I'd buy one eventually anyhow but if she gets me the classic shape I can go and buy something more fun to use while I'm young.

Thanks for the suggestions / judgments.
