That beind said, I will just find a slim black tie that people have suggested, and I will make a custom white tux shirt wtih modern tailor. I am thinking of doing something a bit different, white shirt of course with pleats but a black contrast wide spread collar, black buttons, black lining inside the placket and french cuffs. Any support on this? or just keep it plain white with pleats?

You shouldn't be wearing a tux shirt (with pleats) unless you're wearing a tux. A black suit is not a tuxedo. And a white shirt with black collar/button/etc would look even tackier than a bedazzled tie. Sounds like the sort of thing more suited to wearing to a cheap nightclub than to a formal event like a wedding.

Thanks all for the advice. I hope I am not sounding like one of these d-bags you see wearing psychotic looking clothing.

I just like to think out loud, so I am taking your advice in a serious manner. I dont want to give anyone the wrong idea, but in my community we have weddings literally on a weekly basis and they are a bit more casual than a high class wedding that comes along once every couple of years. Hence why I am throwing things out there that seem out of this world. There are no written rules, I have seen fathers of the bride wearing velvet jackets and such.

I always do dress modestly with a slight flair, but recently the past year or two I have dressed extremely simple. Slim fits and basic colors have been my staples. If push comes to shove I can stick with my basic black suit, basic white shirt, and one of my black ties and be happy but I was looking for something a bit more special.

No can do, for photos and whatnot my parents would like all of the sons/son-in laws wearing black suits/ties.
Maybe I can pull off something with my shirt. I am trying to create a custom pleated shirt via modern tailor.

I have numerous of these Stefano Ricci crystal ties, and as tacky as they sound, in real life and at weddings they are amazing!

They look classy with a little bit of a twist to them.

I've worn them to all of my siblings weddings thus far, and I have bought a bunch of different ones for different members of my family from 20 year olds to a 90 year old grandfather, and they all looked amazing!

I have one of these ties by Pal Zileri that I might be coerced to sell. Its black satin with two rows of crystals down the sides. Brand new with tags. I bought it to collect, but if you are serious, PM me.

To be honest, I would stick with simple. The wedding is a celebration for the bride and bridegroom for the family. The fathers and mothers can wear whatever they want. They are the parents of the two reasons you're at a wedding. As a invited guest, you are not nearly on the same level of deference or respect. I may be off-base as I don't know how your local weddings are, but that's how I see it. Blend in and have fun.

My thought is this: Which question would you rather the bride ask the groom 10 years down the road? 1) Look at this picture! Remember how ridiculous my dad looked in that velvet blazer for the group photo? or 2) Look at this picture! Remember how (insert family relation) (your name here) stood out in our group photo with that (insert clothing item)?

To be fair, I think being the brother of the bride certainly makes him quite an important guest, only just below the couple themselves and their parents.
